The torch of new leadership is passed on to the 2009 ACPACI Board of Directors. Its theme of Building and Forging Relationships included a new milestone – the induction of new officers of the newly-formed Central Luzon Chapter. ACPACI held the induction ceremonies for the national and chapter officers last January 30, 2009 at the Bahia Lounge of Hotel Intercontinental Manila.
The programme was emceed by 1998 Past President Cora Hernandez. It was a night of festivities with 13 past presidents in attendance and guests from PICPA. The programme opened with an invocation from 2003 Past President Aida Apostol. Ms. Nora Aquino rendered her valedictory address. She stressed that her term came to a full circle with learnings on how commitment can drive members to achieve more for ACPACI. Ms. Aquino presented leadership awards to her directors, officers and chairpersons who contributed to the success of ACPACI in 2008. She also gave a special leadership award to Mr. Lito Manahan for his exemplary performance as Director for meetings and handling of the annual convention solicitations. The symbolical presentation of the gavel marked the passing of leadership to the incoming president, Ms. Corazon Rey. The 2009 national officers were inducted by the Honorable Bayani Fernando, Chairman Metro Manila Development Authority.
The new president rendered her inaugural speech with candor and vibrance centered on the theme, ACPACI: Building and Forging Relationships. Afterwards, Ms. Cora Rey presented the Leadership Award to her predecessor and friend, Nora Aquino. This was followed by the induction of chairpersons in each committee and the 19 new members including the Central Luzon Chapter members. The Honorable Chairman of the Board of Accountancy, Mr. Eugene Mateo did the honor of inducting the Central Luzon Chapter officers led by Ms. Marita Flores. We thank Past President, Ms. Lita Aguirre for dedicating valuable service in organizing the formation of the Central Luzon chapter. Finally, our guest speaker, Honorable Bayani Fernando delivered an extemporaneous speech centered on leadership and the political will to make it happen. Chairman Fernando mesmerized the audience with his rendition of “Pitong Gatang”. It was indeed a night truly memorable for everyone.
