3rd General Membership Meeting & Seminar

Gearing up the accounting profession towards a more responsive, competent and efficient delivery of services, the 3rd General Membership Meeting and Seminar of ACPACI centered on three main topics: online stock trading (how to invest your personal savings), PFRS for SMEs, and new trends on computerized accounting system. Crossing borders to a new venue -- Makati Sports Club, the ACPACI had this event last May 20, 2010, running from 11am to 5pm.
Mr. Edward Lee, the Chairman of the Board of Citi Securities, Inc. corrected the public perception that stock trading is a losing and a complicated investment. He explained the winning side in trading in the stock market. Advices on which stocks to invest to and tips on how to handle this kind of investment were generously given to members and guest who attended the meeting. And what could be even better? Local stock trading can now be done online, right in our fingertips, making it easier to keep track of the investment one makes.
PFRS for SMEs, which made buzz around the corners recently, was discussed by Mabel Comedia, Punongbayan and Araullo partner. This was aimed to provide the members updates and bits of information on this separate set of standards for the use of SMEs for fiscal year 2010.
Mr. Kerwin Malabanan, Managing Director of Fastrack Solutions, Inc. gave backgrounds on computerized accounting system, introduced its features, and made the members more familiar with a computerized accounting environment.
During the membership meeting, new members were inducted. The upcoming 2010 ACPACI Convention was also announced, which will be held at the Fort Ilocandia Resort Hotel, Laoag City from Sept. 16-18, 2010.
