The Association of Certified Public Accountants in Commerce and Industry (ACPACI) wishes to thank all of those who watched and supported Repertory Philippines’ Alice in Wonderland last August 17, 2013 at Onstage, Greenbelt 1, Ayala, Makati City.
Heartfelt gratitude goes to the kids and parents, ACPACI members, officers and friends who braved the rain to watch the musical and likewise to the show’s sponsors for their heroic generosity. Alice in Wonderland is a success in terms of ticket sales and number of attendees. Despite the inclement weather, it is one of the most attended plays by Repertory Philippines endorsed by the organization.
The theatrical event is a fund-raising activity of ACPACI, and the proceeds thereof will go to the scholarship fund of the Association. ACPACI gives out scholarship to deserving Accountancy students of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. Please read the featured story of a former ACPACI scholar, Mr. Fritz Kein Ortiz, in ACPACI’s SOS (Scholar on Spotlight).
This well-loved fairytale enthralled with its catchy and melodious songs like, “I’m Mad, You’re Mad, We’re All Mad Here” and “Off With Your Head!”; the stage set and geometric backdrop in carnival colors, one of the kids actually commented that "the props and the costumes are like gigantic origami pieces" ; the superb acting of the cast members particularly Alice and he Queen of Hearts (played that night by Becca Coates and Bituin Escalante respectively); the quirky and jaw-dropping costumes like the Queen of Heart’s outlandish baroque red gown festooned with heart-shaped appliques, in contrast to Alice’s simple puffed sleeve blue dress with white pinafore; the Mad Hatter’s eccentric top hat and his iconic Mad Tea Party plus more, and not to mention the other fantastical characters and creatures in this surreal world called Wonderland.
Alice in Wonderland conjured pure magic, and the captivated audience, especially the children, obviously enjoyed a great night out.
