A Tribute to the Elderly Sisters of the Daughters of Charity Provincial House of the Daughters of Charity Paranaque City December 10, 2011
More often than not, every gift giving focused on small children as we see the face of the child Jesus in them. For this year’s ACPACI Christmas outreach program, the Social Involvement Committee headed by its Director, Ms. Celerina M Valencia, thought of another means of giving back the blessings of ACPACI. Thus, we held a “Love and Gift Giving party" to fifty (50) elderly sisters of the Daughters of Charity last December 10, 2011. The Provincial House of the Daughters of Charity in Paranaque hosted the event. The congregation of the Daughters of Charity continues to support the needs of these elderly sisters who have retired and yet remain valuable sister servants who rendered their services, talents and abilities managing the affairs of the congregation when they were young. As the party progressed and more presentations came from our elderly sisters, the ACPACI officers were teary-eyed to see how talented the sisters were as they danced, shared their talent on singing, poem recitation and playing the piano with a classical Christmas piece. The sisters enjoyed the games and though some of them could hardly walk, still they volunteered themselves to play. We can see in their faces that the simple prizes they received during the games, the snacks served for their merienda and their individual Christmas Gifts were very much appreciated. Through the generosity of ACPACI officers and directors, a cash donation was also given as financial assistance for the needs of the sisters. Kudos goes also to the employees of Philippine Duplicators, Inc. who untiringly brought a big van loaded with party equipment and materials.
