ACPACI Conducts Successful Outreach Program at Missionaries of Charity for the Elderly
ACPACI conducted an outreach activity on June 3, 2023 at the Missionaries of Charity for the Elderly in Tayuman, Manila. This was spearheaded by its Committee on Social Involvement.
Mother Teresa of Calcutta founded the Missionaries of Charity in 1950, with the purpose of caring for the poorest of the poor. The Missionaries of Charity relies mainly on donations from the generous hearted individuals, charitable groups, and, sometimes, on government assistance. The Missionaries of Charity provides care to some of the most marginalized members of society, including orphans, abandoned and neglected children, the elderly, and also those with physical or mental disabilities. It has been their home and place of solace and comfort.
The center is currently serving 68 elderly persons, who need food, medicines, and other supplies for their daily subsistence. The head of the Missionaries, Sister Trinidad, was elated that ACPACI found time to visit them. As part of the outreach program, ACPACI handed over food packs, medicines, sacks of rice among others.
One of ACPACI’s core values is compassion, and indeed, through the years, the Association has been giving back to the community like The Missionaries of Charity for the Elderly.
Photos with the elderly were prohibited to safeguard their privacy. Also, due to health protocols, interaction with the lolos and lolas was limited.
ACPACI, through its President, Ms. Liezl Chua-Dycaico, would like to extend a heartfelt gratitude to those who supported the activity and to its Vice President for Community Development and Chair of the Social Involvement Committee, Ms. Elaine E. de Guzman and Mr. Noel T. Ang, respectively.
