GMM 7 & 2015 Christmas Party: A Gathering of Superheroes

It’s a bird. it’s a plane. Nope, it’s ACPACI’s 2015 Superheroes Christmas party!

On December 4, 2015, ACPACI threw an awesome Super Heroes Christmas party and its Officers, Directors, members together with the PUP scholars gathered together to the joyous shindig and revel in this season of greetings (and eating) at the Legaspi Room of Hotel Intercontinental Manila in Ayala, Makati.

It was a great chance to see the ACPACIans, guests and friends dressed in lycra and capes, and a great chance to catch up with each other and engage in informal networking. Many of the partygoers dressed up as Cat Woman, with matching face mask and tail, while the others wore Superhero shirts: Superman, Ironman, Captain America, Incredible Hulk, etc. Ms. Katherine Sobremonte, ACPACI Director for Fellowship and Sports and the event’s host and Ms. Fedna Parallag, Treasurer and ACPACI Director for Meetings opted to be Batman (or in their case, Batwoman) of DC Comics, others came as Marvel heroes like ACPACI President, Wowie Roguel dressed up as Quicksilver of the Avengers. Congratulations to Ms. Lolit Tang, ACPACI Director for Scholarship and Social Involvement for bagging the Best in Costume award. She suit up as Wonder Woman-- with the iconic Wonder Woman tiara, red cape, red boots and star-spangled skirt.

The night was filled with cheers, games, superb food and fun, fun, fun. As always, engaging parlor games and activities were prepared by Ms. Sobremonte and her Fellowship Committee. Of course, where there are Super Heroes, there are Super Villains. One of the games was a sort of a “quiz’ where the participants would identify the arch nemesis of the featured Superhero like The Joker to Batman, Venom to Spiderman, Dr. Doom to the Fantastic 4, etc., and those who answered the quiz completely and accurately got a prize/ token for the effort courtesy of the Fellowship Committee.

The evening concluded with the now annual ACPACI Mooncake festival game, a game of dice, which getting a “4” means scoring a floor prize such as mugs, towels, starter sets, gas stove, electric kettle and rice cooker as the Grand prize; it’s a game where everybody is a winner and no one goes home empty- handed. Also, the Association’s PUP Scholars graced the celebration gamely joined the party activities and sang a Christmas carol for everyone, as their way of thanking ACPACI for all its support. To them, ACPACI and its members are their real life superheroes. Indeed, ACPACI’s Superheroes party is an attestation that there is a hero inside every ACPACIan, and it rather feels good especially this happiest season of the year.

Happy Holidays everyone!
